FSPC-MEETUP

February 16, 2011
Meetup is an online social network that facilitates finding and joining a group with a special interest such as canoeing and kayaking. It was decided at the FSPC 2010 annual meeting to experiment with creating a FSPC Meetup group. This will allow FSPC members to list impromptu FSPC trips on the Meetup website that are not listed in the FSPC newsletter. It is also intended for recruiting new FSPC members. Most Meetup groups are open to the public but the FSPC-Meetup group is restricted to Florida Sport Paddling Club members due to our insurance requirements.

EXISTING FSPC MEMBERS

Existing FSPC members can become a member of the FSPC-Meetup group by going online at
www.meetup.com/Florida-Sport-Paddling-Club/ and following the instructions. Members of the group can view the FSPC impromtu trips listed on the Meetup site and have the option to receive an email each time a trip is added to the list. There are instructions on the Meetup site explaining how an FSPC-Meetup member can become an Event Organizer and list trips on the Meetup site.

PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS

Prospective FSPC-Meetup members must first join the Florida Sport Paddling Club and pay the club dues before they can join the FSPC-Meetup group. Once you are a FSPC member you will receive a monthly newsletter with a list of trips that is updated each month.  You will also have the option to join the FSPC-Meetup group as explained above in order to view the list of impromptu trips that have not been listed in the newsletter.
